Employment and Discrimination 

Cloisters barristers are known for their expertise in employment and discrimination law and have handled many landmark cases. Cloisters is home to both the Chair of the Employment Law Bar Association and also the Chair of the Discrimination Law Association.Our barristers appear for both employers and employees and on both sides in discrimination cases.

In 2003 Cloisters became the first ever barristers' chambers to win 'Employment Team of the Year' at The Lawyer Awards. Each year Cloisters appears in a high percentage of the top employment cases to watch as chosen by respected employment law commentator Mickey Rubenstein. For instance in 2006 Cloisters Barristers appeared in two thirds of all the employment law cases in the House of Lords and in the last year Cloisters were involved in numerous leading cases from the ECJ and HL down to the ET. Our barristers undertake all kinds of advisory work and undertake mediations and other settlements.

We undertake all kinds of discrimination law in areas outside employment such as the advising on and litigating in relation to the Equality Duties and in relation to discrimination in relation to goods facilities and services.
