Mr. Delroy B Duncan was called to the English and Welsh Bar in 1984. Following a pupilage at Cloisters he was taken on as a tenant there where he began to expand his practice in the fields of commercial contracts, intellectual property, contracts and issues relating to the incorporation of private companies
He was called to the Bermuda Bar in 1989 and is a founding partner and director of the law firm, Trott & Duncan.
Mr. Duncan was called to the Turks & Caicos Bar in 2006.
He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, a member of the National Bar Association of America and a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers in America.
For the past 5 years, Mr. Duncan has been on the Professional Conduct Committee of the Bermuda Bar Association until he was elected President of the Bermuda Bar Association in 2011.
Mr. Duncan volunteers advice and legal assistance to the Marsden Methodist Church and to the West Indian Association.
His practice includes all aspects of litigation and advice in the fields of company and commercial law, corporate insolvency, civil fraud, asset recovery, arbitration, human rights, constitutional law and judicial review.
In recent years Mr. Duncan has been extensively involved in litigation arising out of company and commercial disputes, constitutional and human rights issues.
Work in the field of commercial and company law has included giving advice to clients throughout the Caribbean, the United States, the United Kingdom and the Far East.
Mr. Duncan has given advice on constitutional and judicial review cases in Bermuda as well as both for and against governments in the Caribbean including BVI and Antigua. He has acted for the Human Rights Commission of Bermuda in various cases.
As a qualified arbitrator, Mr. Duncan has appeared in a number of arbitrations in Bermuda. He is also certified as a trained mediator by the Notre Dame Law School (Indiana, USA) and has been appointed a mediator and appeared in mediations in Bermuda.
