Gay couple cannot be lawfully discriminated against by hoteliers, Court of Appeal rules

Dignity and Transparency:  fundamental values in a UK Bill of rights? Declan O’Dempsey, a founder member of the Halsbury Law Exchange legal think tank, has written a thought provoking piece on the importance of the concept of dignity in a “post equality” world and on the importance of determining a legal concept of transparency.   The text is at http://www.halsburyslawexchange.co.uk/.  Declan compares the state of affairs under the Kenyan Constitution 2010 with the approach currently being adopted in the field of equality and administrative decision making in the UK.

Halsbury’s Law Exchange is an independent and politically neutral legal think tank which contributes to the development of law and the legal sector. It aims to communicate ideas on reform or legal direction to decision makers and the legal sector and promote debate through papers, reports, events and media pieces. The principles that underpin our laws are seldom open to reasoned and informed debate that will change or shape legislation. Halsbury’s Law Exchange seeks to change this state of affairs.  The next phase of the debate is to define the concepts of dignity and transparency into workable legal form.
