Robin Allen QC and Claire McCann win first round in £8 million discrimination case

19 January 2012

Claire McCann is instructed by a former banker at Nomura who is bringing a complex disability discrimination claim worth £8 million.  She is being led by Robin Allen QC (Head of Chambers at Cloisters).

In November 2011, she successfully resisted an application by the Bank for a “stay” of the Tribunal proceedings in which it sought to extend the principle recently enunciated by the EAT in Paymentshield Group Holdings v Halstead (as to whether ET proceedings should be stayed where High Court proceedings are contemplated but not yet issued).

Judgment has just been issued by the Tribunal (12th January 2012) – see judgment here.
