Chris Milsom appears on BBC Breakfast to discuss anti-terror legislation


Chris Milsom was invited to appear on BBC Breakfast this morning to discuss proposed reforms to anti-terror legislation in response to the threat posed by ISIS. Whilst acknowledging the abhorrent activities of some British citizens in Iraq and Syria Chris nonetheless maintained that the best contribution the law can make in this area is a reaffirmation of the Rule of Law. He argued that the trial of suspected terrorists by a British jury composed of individuals with a diversity of faiths on which men and women are treated equally represents the best traditions of the common law: by contrast the prospect of rendering British citizens stateless on their return to the UK would not only contravene two UN Conventions but also the bedrock of the English legal system.
