Cloisters Chambers becomes a signatory to the Women in Law Pledge

Cloisters Chambers is proud to confirm that we are signatories to the Women in Law Pledge created by the Bar Council of England and Wales, The Law Society, and the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx).

The Women in Law Pledge was created to support progress on gender equality across the legal profession, with a focus on eliminating sex discrimination and driving meaningful, practical change. As part of our application, Cloisters submitted an action plan outlining our ongoing and future commitments in this area.

We are pleased that our application has been accepted and look forward to building on the work already underway at Chambers, including reviewing progress over the coming year and developing clear targets aligned with the Pledge’s commitments.

As a signatory, Cloisters Chambers reaffirms its commitment to equality, fairness and inclusion at the Bar, and to contributing positively to wider profession-wide initiatives aimed at improving opportunities for women in law.

Carolyn D’Souza and Cherno Jagne, Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Officers commented:

“We are thrilled to announce that Cloisters has become a signatory to the Women in Law Pledge. This milestone reflects our ongoing dedication to fostering an environment where all women can thrive and progress in their legal careers. We are committed to implementing meaningful actions that challenge barriers, champion equality, and ensure that diversity and inclusion remain at the heart of all we do within Chambers and the wider profession.”

Caspar Glyn KC and Rachel Crasnow KC, Joint Heads of Chambers commented:

“We are delighted to announce our signing up to the Women in Law Pledge. Fairness is one of the four cornerstones to our manifesto to chambers and the plans that we have drawn up to continue to drive gender equality in Cloisters during 2026 are exciting. We are hugely grateful to Carolyn D’Souza and the brilliant DEI Committee or their leadership in this area”
