Women of Little Mix Case nominated for ‘Best Use of Law Award’

In July 2021, Catherine Casserley acted for a Sally Reynolds, Sarah Cassandro, and Victoria Nelson, 3 deaf mothers who took their daughters to see Little Mix and who successfully sued the Little Mix concert organisers, LHG Live, for failing to provide BSL interpreter for the duration of the concert. 9 months on, the three women have been nominated for the ‘Best Use of Law’ Award by the Sheila McKechnie Foundation.

LHG Live, the organisers, refused to accept responsibility for failing to book an interpreter for the supporting acts. Under the Equality Act 2010, any organisation supplying a service to the public is under a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that a disabled person’s experience is as close as possible to that of someone without a disability.

The wider effects of this ruling encouraged Wembley Stadium to announce that they will provide British Sign Language interpretation at every concert.
