Mediation/Arbitration

Barristers at Cloisters recognise that going to court or tribunal is by no means the only way of resolving disputes. Alternative means of dispute resolution are becoming increasingly important, particularly at work, in commerce and sport. Evidence is growing that mediations are a cheaper and more satisfactory way for clients to secure acceptable outcomes in resolving disputes.

Overview

Many of our barristers are the undisputed leaders in their field and represent clients at every level up to the European Court. They consistently break new ground and shape policy through their pioneering work.

As well as being named a leading set by Chambers and Partners and Legal 500, one third of our members are named as leaders in their field of practice and we appear in high profile and challenging cases for both respondents and claimants.

We are proud of the work that we do, our results and the standards that we set for ourselves. We have a complaints policy that we follow to address any issue about our work.

Cloisters has appeared in leading cases for over 60 years and its barristers have become renowned not only for their technical excellence and tenacity, but also for their people-centred approach and practical delivery.

The set of more than 50 barristers, who work as individual barristers taking personal responsibility for their cases, is led by Robin Allen QC and performs the whole range of civil court, tribunal and appellate work from the smallest claims to high profile cases in the Supreme Court and European Court of Justice.

Cloisters acts for both claimants and defendants in all practice areas and its clients are broad and diverse ranging from the world's biggest law firms to in-house legal departments, trade unions, law centres, high street firms, the Equality and Human Rights Commission and many professional associations.
