Paul Michell reappointed to act as Visitor for Loughborough University

We are delighted to announce that on the advice of the Privy Council, HM the Queen has reappointed Paul Michell to act as Visitor for Loughborough University for a further 5 year term.

Every University which is incorporated by Royal Charter  (i.e. founded prior to 1992) must have a Visitor.  The Lord President of the Privy Council acts as visitor to several universities on behalf of HM Queen, as do the Lord Chancellor, the Lord Chief Justice and the Archbishop of Canterbury.  The Visitor’s jurisdiction is to adjudicate on petitions from members of the university’s academic staff on the interpretation and application of the institution’s Charter, Statutes, Ordinances etc, provided the point at issue is not an employment dispute.

Loughborough University was recently awarded ‘University of the Year’ in the Sunday Times University Guide 2019.

We congratulate Paul on this prestigious re-appointment.
