Catherine Casserley represents judicial review on Deaf interpretation for government briefings

Ms Rowley, Catherine’s client, has brought a judicial review in light of the government’s failure to provide BSL interpreters at No 10 Covid briefings. The case has broader support following the #Where’stheInterpreterCampaign which launched last year to draw attention to the fact that whilst Wales, Scotland Northern Ireland have “on platform” BSL interpretation, England have only in-vision interpretation available on the news channel. Catherine is arguing that the government have breached their obligations under the Equality Act as a result. This case could have wider implications for similar actions brought against the government by deaf people in England.
