Advocate is the principal charity connecting unrepresented litigants before the English courts with volunteer barristers. With the narrowing coverage of legal aid, Advocate ensures that access to justice can be achieved by all, not only the rich.
What’s more is that Adam will run it wearing barristers’ wig and gown, if he meets a £5000 fundraising target.
Adam said, ‘I have taken on cases for Advocate, previously the Bar Pro Bono Unit, throughout my career at the bar. It’s not working for free; it’s lending your skills and experience to someone who desperately needs help. But that is not enough. Advocate also requires financial support to operate. That is why I am raising funds for Advocate by running the London Marathon. Any comparison between running a complex legal case and running a marathon is of course purely coincidental.”
