Akua Reindorf appointed as new EHRC Commissioner

Today, 20th December, it was announced that Akua Reindorf was appointed as an Equality and Human Rights Commissioner and Board Member by Liz Truss, Minister for Women and Equalities. Akua is celebrated for her work surrounding the Equality Act 2010 and as a human rights barristers; focussing on complex and protracted litigation and high profile internal investigations. She has particular expertise in the higher education and public sectors and published the Reindorf Review in May 2021.

Akua says:

“I am honoured and delighted to be offered this opportunity to contribute to the vital work of the EHRC. This is an important time for equality issues across society. The Commission must continue to be a strong and authoritative voice challenging unlawful discrimination, supporting those who need it most and holding organisations to account. I hope that my experience as a barrister specialising in employment, discrimination and human rights law will be of value across the Commission’s full range of work”.
