Cloisters AI experts speak out on safely revolutionising access to justice

AI is in spotlight with Cloisters’ Robin Allen KC and Dee Masters penning down their thoughts in the latest edition of Counsel magazine with ‘The justice of artificial intelligence’. On pages 27 to 29 of the January 2024 publication, Robin and Dee set out the current state of play from an AI perspective as well as evaluate its limitations and risks going forwards.

One of the multiple dangers of AI is discrimination. Focusing on this controversial topic, Robin and Dee stress the point that ‘technology can’t yet exercise discretion and judgment in the way humans can’, particularly pertinent in relation to assessing job applications.

Hot on the heels of the AI Safety Summit at Bletchley Park in November 2023, attended by global leaders who declared to address the issues associated with AI, the article suggests that governance is moving in the right direction. Assisted by Robin and Dee in AI Law Consultancy capacity, there’s a proposed Artificial Intelligence and Employment Bill on the horizon.
