Cloisters welcomes new pupils
Cloisters is delighted to welcome Meghna Sridhar and Andrew Bazeley, who begin their pupillage with Chambers today.
Before coming to the Bar, Andrew was a Law Reform Lawyer at the Law Commission of England and Wales, where he led work on projects concerning the law applying to burial and cremation, new funerary methods and funeral disputes. He previously worked at the Commission as a Research Assistant on the reform of surrogacy law.
Prior to his legal career, Andrew spent six years working in social research, policy and advocacy at gender equality charity the Fawcett Society, latterly as its Policy, Research and Public Affairs Manager. His work included Fawcett’s Sex Discrimination Law Review and proposed reforms to equal pay law, alongside a range of wider equality issues.
Andrew completed the Bar Vocational Studies at City Law School with Distinction and holds an LLM Qualifying Law Degree and MSc in Public Policy and Management from Birkbeck, University of London, both with Distinction. He graduated from University College London with a First in English Literature and Language and was awarded the Prince of Wales Scholarship by Gray’s Inn.
Meghna joins Chambers having previously worked as a dual-qualified US associate and solicitor of England and Wales at an international law firm. She has represented clients in employment discrimination, sexual assault and personal injury cases on both sides of the Atlantic, including matters involving the intersection of human trafficking laws and religious freedoms and the protections afforded to child and adult abuse victims under the US Constitution.
Meghna has appeared before state and federal courts in the US and has experience at both first instance and appellate level. She also has commercial law experience, having worked as a US associate in Equity and Debt Capital Markets for a Magic Circle firm, as well as international human rights experience gained through internships at Reprieve in London, the Center for Justice and Accountability in San Francisco and the Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative in New Delhi.
Meghna holds a Juris Doctor degree from Stanford University, an MSc from the University of Oxford with Distinction and a BA (Honours) from Amherst College. She is admitted to practise in New York and the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.
Both Meghna and Andrew are interested in all areas of Chambers’ work during their pupillage.
We are delighted to welcome them to Cloisters and wish them every success as they begin their pupillage with Chambers.
