We are delighted to welcome Marianne Schönle and Fred Holker as our newest pupils.
Marianne joins us with a rich background in policy and advocacy. Before coming to the Bar, she was Senior Policy Officer at Maternity Action, where she led work on the Employment Rights Bill and coordinated the Alliance for Maternity Rights. Her experience also includes senior roles at ILPA - Immigration Law Practitioners' Association, serving as Secretary of the Human Rights Lawyers' Association, and volunteering with the Free Representation Unit, the School Exclusion Project, and The Unity Project.
Fred arrives from the Court of Appeal, where he served as Judicial Assistant to Lord Justice Coulson, drafting opinions on complex legal issues across multiple practice areas. His previous roles include Legal Intern at The Neurorights Foundation in Washington DC, where he explored the human rights implications of emerging neurotechnologies. Fred has also represented claimants in Employment Tribunal cases for the Free Representation Unit and advocated for members of the Cleaners and Allied Independent Workers’ Union (CAIWU).
During the 12 months of pupillage, each pupil will sit with four successive pupillage supervisors covering chambers’ core practice areas: employment, discrimination, personal injury and clinical negligence. They will also have the opportunity to gain experience across Cloisters’ full range of practice areas.
We wish them all the very best of luck for the year ahead.
