Cloisters is delighted to announce that members of Chambers have been shortlisted in two categories at the 2026 Bar Pro Bono Awards, hosted by Advocate.
Emma Darlow Stearn and Ameer Ismail have both been shortlisted for Young Pro Bono Barrister of the Year, recognising their outstanding commitment to providing access to justice through pro bono work.
Emma has undertaken an exceptional volume of pro bono work, completing over 260 hours in 2025 alone across complex employment matters. Her work includes representing individuals in Employment Appeal Tribunal cases involving equal pay, reasonable adjustments and whistleblowing, as well as supporting clients to achieve favourable outcomes through pre-action resolution.
Ameer has also made a significant contribution through Advocate referrals, regularly advising and representing vulnerable clients in complex matters. He is recognised for his clear, methodical approach and his ability to support clients through often challenging and high-stakes situations.
In addition, Cloisters Chambers has been shortlisted for Pro Bono Chambers of the Year, reflecting Chambers’ collective dedication to supporting individuals and communities who might otherwise be unable to access legal representation.
The Bar Pro Bono Awards celebrate the exceptional voluntary work carried out by barristers across England and Wales, shining a light on those who give their time and expertise to those most in need.
The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Tuesday 19 May 2026 at Inner Temple.
We warmly congratulate Emma and Ameer on their well-deserved recognition, and extend our thanks to all members of Chambers who continue to contribute to Cloisters’ strong pro bono culture.
